Partnering with BlackBerry, Wedge Networks’ upcoming WedgeARP™ is embedded with a new set of 5G-optimized Machine Learning models for preventing never-before-seen malware in high-speed networks
27th February 2022 – MWC Barcelona 2022 – Barcelona, Spain: Wedge Networks Inc. (Wedge), an innovation leader in intelligent real-time threat prevention solutions, is pleased to introduce the upcoming WedgeARP™ V2.7 release powered by a set of new Machine Learning models optimized for preventing never-before-seen malware in 5G Networks.
The premise of 5G networks is high throughput and low latency services, enabling Connected & Autonomous Vehicles, Intelligent Transportation Systems, and smart infrastructure. Conventional “detection & remediation” strategy or “wait & see” sandbox-based approaches are inadequate for such use cases. At the same time, advanced features in 5G such as network slicing and SDN introduce challenges to conventional network security technologies. Wedge addresses such challenges by providing an innovative intelligent real-time threat prevention software platform, Wedge Absolute Real-time Protection (WedgeARP™). WedgeARP™ offers a set of virtual network functions, enabling advanced security services from the 5G network edge to the cloud core. To combat the rampant increase of never-before-seen malware in today’s cyber space while satisfying the real-time requirement for cyber defense in 5G networks, Wedge partnered with BlackBerry, a leader in applying machine learning techniques to optimize real-time prevention of advanced malware carried through 5G high speed networks.
Wedge is pleased to announce that the upcoming WedgeARP™ v2.7 is embedded with a set of 5G optimized new machine learning models made possible through its partnership with BlackBerry and its Cylance® artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) models providing enhanced visibility and protection against current and future cyber threats. Lab tests and initial customer feedback demonstrate this new release is nearly 100% faster than Wedge’s previous versions, making it capable of preventing never-before-seen malware in milli-seconds. The solution can be inserted in various locations of the 5G data networks, with significant performance and efficacy improvements over previous versions.
“By using BlackBerry-based machine learning techniques at the network layer, Wedge have made real-time threat prevention of unknown malware a reality, addressing a critical need to protect the digital infrastructure in today’s high speed 5G data networks”, said Alex Willis, VP, Global Sales Engineering at BlackBerry. “As a long-term partner, we are pleased to see the upcoming WedgeARP™ has significantly improved its performance and efficacy with our well trained machine learning model integrated and we look forward to bringing this combined solution to our respective partners and customers, paving the way for a new generation of real-time remediation security products that are able to handle the challenges of 5G.”
“As can be observed in this week’s Mobile World Congress, we live in a hyperconnected world where milliseconds matter. Real-time threat prevention is a critical requirement to secure this digital transformation. Wedge addresses this requirement by providing WedgeARP™, a high performance software defined network security stack, that can be delivered from the 5G network edge to the cloud core.” said Dr. Husam Kinawi, Chief Scientist of Wedge Networks. Dr. Kinawi added, “During the pandemic, hundreds of thousands of advanced new malware were produced each day by various hacker groups, inflicting enormous damage. Our digital life is not safe without effective real-time threat prevention measures. The team at Wedge is very proud of our partnership with BlackBerry. With this partnership, the resulting WedgeARP™ v2.7 is capable of preventing the attacks of advanced malware against connected endpoints in real-time. It is a much-needed solution demanded by our partners and customers.”
“Wedge continues to push the boundaries of its ability to offer real-time threat prevention. In working with numerous technology partners, the WedgeARP™ platform enables the offering of some of the best-of-breed and cutting edge solutions available on the market,” added Dr. Hongwen Zhang, Wedge’s CEO and CTO.
