18 November 2021 – Smart City Expo and World Congress 2021 – BARCELONA, Spain: Chungwha Telecom (CHT), the largest telecommunications company in Taiwan, has formally entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Wedge Networks, the leader in real-time threat prevention. Through this partnership, the two parties will join forces to co-develop a Zero-Trust Secure Edge Solution that will integrate Wedge’s Absolute Real-time Protection™ (WedgeARP™) platform with CHT’s EyeLAN software. The combined solution will be offered on Wedge distributor, Edgecore Network’s uCPE hardware. The resultant “Secure Edge” product will enable zero-trust authentication of devices, combined with real-time threat prevention, to any endpoint connecting to a network; offering enterprises the ability to run much more secure networking infrastructures within their organizations.
WedgeARP™ provides network-based, real-time threat protection for all types of endpoints in a wide range of networks (mobile data, 5G, SD-WAN, SASE, and smart-city/IIoT). With an embedded deep learning AI engine and patented real-time deep content inspection technology, WedgeARP™ can detect never-before-seen malware in milliseconds. Running on an orchestrated threat management platform, it is an effective and autonomous approach to enable large-scale real-time threat prevention.
CHT, using its EyeLAN network access control technology, is enabling Zero Trust networks by requiring all endpoints connecting to its secure networks to be properly authenticated before they can gain access.
“This MOU is important for us to develop a more effective and secure Zero Trust network solution for our global enterprise customers,” remarked Dr. Yu Huang Chu, CEO of EyeLAN Group in Chunghwa Telecom Lab. “By combining our very effective EyeLan authentication solution with active real-time threat prevention from WedgeARP™, to be distributed on an easy to deploy uCPE device from Edgecore, we can offer unparalleled security that our customers have been eagerly searching for.”
“Chunghwa Telecom is a key technology partners for Wedge in this venture and it shares our clear vision of innovative security and real-time threat prevention for the cloud connected world,” commented Dr. Hongwen Zhang, Wedge Networks, CEO & CTO. “The ability to enhance Zero Trust networks with real-time threat prevention will benefit customers and partners by better protecting their infrastructures from the exponential proliferation of malware cyber-attacks.”
CHT and Wedge have been working closely together to develop this innovative new Secure Edge security product and will each promote and sell the resulting offering to their diverse customers bases.
